Remember Rosie’s Shoe Fetish? The Ups and Downs of Puppy Teething
It might seem like just yesterday when Rosie was a tiny furball, happily nibbling on every shoe she could find. That’s right, our Bernese Mountain Dog went through a teething phase that was as adorable as it was destructive. This phase brought a lot of changes in Rosie, including her sudden fascination with shoes, increased restlessness, and even a decreased appetite.
The Shoes that Rosie Couldn’t Resist: A Look Back at Her Teething Phase
Before you could even blink, Rosie was into her teething phase, and boy, did she love every shoe in the house! The first signs were drooling and an incessant need to chew on things. That’s when we knew Rosie was starting her teething journey. And well, shoes happened to be her chew toy of choice. Her behavior changed during this period – she became more restless than usual, and her appetite dipped a bit.
Rosie’s Chew Toys: The Real Shoe-Saver
Although Rosie had a love affair with our shoes, we managed to divert her attention with some fabulous chew toys. These toys weren’t just any toys, they were specifically designed for teething Bernese Mountain Dog puppies. They had a certain texture and shape that not only kept Rosie entertained but also helped alleviate her teething discomfort. It’s important to note that not all chew toys are safe for our furry friends. We made sure to choose those without small parts or toxic materials.
Rosie’s Relief: Chilled Treats and Gentle Gum Massages
Alongside the chew toys, we also found some home remedies to soothe Rosie’s teething pain. Frozen treats were a big hit! They helped numb her gums and reduce inflammation. Additionally, gentle gum massages provided much-needed relief. These remedies were simple but effective, and they can be used by other Bernese Mountain Dog owners dealing with a teething pup.
Rosie’s Teething Journey: Patience, Perseverance and Lots of Love
Like any developmental stage, teething also comes with its own timeline. For Rosie, it was about a few months of chewing, drooling, and occasional fussiness. Navigating this stage required patience, perseverance, and a whole lot of love. But the best part? Seeing Rosie’s behavior improve once her adult teeth came in. It was as if our little shoe-chewing monster had transformed back into our loving, loyal friend.
Remember: Teething is Just a Phase
Remember, as tough as the teething stage might be, it’s just that – a stage. Like Rosie, your Bernese Mountain Dog will get through it too. And before you know it, your adorable, shoe-chewing monster will be back to being your best friend. If you’re going through a similar phase with your pup and need some moral support, get in touch!
